Peace Choirs Event 6th Dec 2010
Peace Choirs

'Tis the season to 'Be the change you want to see'. Mahatma Gandhi. On 6th December Solid Harmony invited local primary choirs, Godwin, Hallsville and Manor, with the touring choir all the way from Australia, Birralee Voices to come together and sing as part of an informal celebration of community and peaceful connection. We began with a short workshop singing all together, then Godwin sang 2 of their own songs, Hallsville sang 'Joyful Joyful' from Sister Act and Birralee sang a selection from their tour programme.

We all sang 'Jubilate Deo' together early on and ended the gathering with an informal rendition of 'Nda Chikalema Weni Diya Hamba Bo' by Xola Kulati (meaning 'we are wandering in the hills together'). We would have enjoyed more time together, but it's a busy time for teachers and pupils in school and college, so we were glad of this short time to come together and sing. We also managed to raise £63.03 for the Red Cross.
