"Their voices sound amazing!  I got goose bumps! I am overwhelmed to be honest.  The Choir got me!  Such an incredible event and made perfect by the Choir.  A massive thank you please to each individual member who contributed to yesterday"
James Hurst,
Acting Director for Speak Up, Speak Out - HMD 2012.

We were all deeply moved by all the presentations, especially the chanting of the Jewish prayer for the departed which was performed by Cantor Jonny Turgel. We'd like to thank the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust for involving us in this poignant reminder that each of us are responsible for speaking up and speaking out against intolerance and injustice in our world.

Welcome to Solid Harmony Choir Website
Solid Harmony is a young people's choir directed by Jane Wheeler. It was set up in April 2002 and has gone from strength to strength.  Based in Newham, East London, it has over 40 members aged 10 -25 from schools, colleges and universities across the borough, with a strong senior and alumni membership taking part in NewVIc's Activ8 program. Solid Harmony has 3 choirs who rehearse on Tuesdays; an all comers and beginner group, an advanced group (auditioned) from 6 - 7.30pm and a show choir of young professionals that come together for special projects and events.  The choir is renowned for singing a wide range of music, including Gospel, R n' B and Rock, to Folk, World music and Classical. They work with a wide range of vocal leaders, including Paul Watson, Randolph Mathews, Geneta Crooke, Eska Mtungwazi and Jason Yarde, as well as their Musical Director, Jane Wheeler. Solid Harmony encourages members to write and compose for the choir. It has it's own band, including alumni students Diân Gasper (keys) and Samuel Awotayo (drums). Solid Harmony was set up initially with Neighborhood Renewal Fund from Newham Council.  For more information go to About us.
